A 24-point turnaround in the lead up to halftime spelt disaster for the Pepsi Dolphins in their 38-22 loss to the Central Comets at Dolphin Oval last Sunday. Two intercept tries took the Comets out to a 32-10 lead at the break with both tries length of the field efforts after the Dolphins looked like scoring. The 22 point deficit proved to be too big for the Dolphins despite reducing the margin to 10 points 15 minutes into the second half. But it would be selling the Comets effort short if you said that the two intercepts were the only reasons for first win at Dolphin Oval. They dominated around the middle of ruck with their quick men making the most of the platform laid by their big men. The Dolphins who were without Troy Lindsay, Adam Starr and Gavin Cooper but Coach Neil Wharton refused to use that as excuse either. Wharton was pleased with the efforts of workaholic lock Grant Flugge, winger Phil Shilvock and Damien Richters. But it was in the middle where the Dolphins lost the game where they didn?t defend well enough. And with the A Grade now stringing together 6 wins in a row some of their players must be very close to making the step up to Queensland Cup. On the positive side for the Dolphins Liam Georgetown and Mark Brown made their Queensland Cup debuts. In particular Brown who?s quick play the balls got Redcliffe on a roll on during his stay on the field. Brown is a second generation Dolphin first grader with his father former International Dave Brown having played a season with Redcliffe in 1987. Comets 38 (R.Cullen 3, C.Rothery 2, W.
