Countdown to the G.F.

Brisbane coach Wayne Bennett has looked to ease the pressure on skipper Darren Lockyer by denying his champion playmaker needs to produce a blinder to get the Broncos over the line in tomorrow's Grand Final.

Lockyer has been in sparkling form in recent weeks culminating in a scintillating man of the match performance in last week's win over the Bulldogs. The Australian Test captain set up several Broncos tries and scored one himself but Bennett says his leadership role will be more important to Brisbane's chances.

The veteran head coach shooting for a record sixth grand final triumph said outside backs Brent Tate, Karmichael Hunt and Justin Hodges could be the ones to turn the match Brisbane's way with their speed and creativity.

Meanwhile, Melbourne Storm fans not making the trek north to Sydney are being urged to converge on Federation Square on Sunday night.

A live broadcast of the game will be shown on the big screen in the central city with thousands of rugby league fans or last-minute converts expected to turn out. The festivities will begin at 5.30pm (AEST) with give-aways and video highlights in the lead-up to the 7pm kick-off.

Up to 10,000 of the Storm's small but loyal band of supporters are expected to travel to Sydney for the decider against the Broncos.
