Country claim victory in Coffs
The Country Origin team have claimed the 2013 Country vs. City Origin match over City Origin, 18-12 at the BCU International Stadium with a small crowd of 4,635.
The Country Origin side started their roll on quickly in the opening half of football with a strong push from their prop forwards. The first points game came mid-first half as Josh McCrone sliced through a gap thanks to a cut out pass from James Maloney. The second first half try was posted by Newcastle Knights' flyer Akuila Uate, who managed to power through two City defenders to score.
City struggled in the first half of football as they trailed 12-0 at the break.
The second half saw City Origin come out of the blocks quickly scoring two tries in six minutes. Andrew Fifita opened the engine and charged straight through Country defence running off a great pass from Wade Graham.
The final points of the match were claimed by James McManus who managed to dive over after taking a beautiful basketball offload from Knight's teammate Akulia Uate.
The City side unable to fight back in the final ten minutes as they were defeated, 18-12. The only real injury concern of the match was Wests Tigers, James Tedesco who suffered a hip pointer late in the second half.
