Matt Bowen's controversial omission from the Australian side for the Anzac Test has stunned North Queensland, with CEO Peter Parr saying he was "surprised and disappointed" the Cowboys flyer was snubbed.

Bowen was overlooked in favour of Brisbane fullback Karmichael Hunt after Golden Boot winner Anthony Minichiello was ruled out with a lower back injury. The selection of Hunt in favour of Bowen comes just weeks after the 19-year-old Bronco considered pledging his allegiance to New Zealand.
