Cronulla names team for Double
Header

Cronulla have named a near full strength team for their opening round match with the Wests Tigers. Nigel Vagana is the only notable omission, although the Sharks lose nothing with the chosen replacement, Australian international Phil Bailey.

Ryan McGoldrick has beaten out Paul Franze for the contentious other centre position, while Greg Bird has claimed first shot at five eighth. Danny Nutley will start in the front row, relegating Chris Beattie to the fourteenth jersey, while Sam Isemonger and Keith Galloway have beaten a glut of contenders for spots on the interchange bench.

The full team to play the Tigers is:

1. David Peachey 2. Nathan Merritt 3. Ryan McGoldrick 4. Phil Bailey 5. Matthew Rieck 6. Greg Bird 7. Brett Kimmorley (c) 8. Jason Stevens 9. Dean Bosnich 10. Danny Nutley 11. Andrew Lomu 12. Paul Gallen 13. Matt Hilder

14. Chris Beattie 15. Keith Galloway 16. Sam Isemonger 17. Michael Sullivan

The game will be played as the first part of the double header at Telstra Stadium and kicks off at 5.30pm on Saturday.
