Dolphins Clean Sweep

The Pepsi Dolphins completed their second clean sweep in a row downing Brothers-Valleys in three grades at O?Callaghan Park on Easter Sunday.

In the Queensland Cup game the Dolphins started off completing eleven of their twelve sets of six tackles. Tries to Gavin Cooper, Brian Jellick, Shane Perry and Justin McKay gave the Dolphins a 22-0 lead in as many minutes. Nathan Sologinkin thriving in his first run on appearance for the club led from the front along with Adam Starr and Danny Burke. With the platform laid by the big men the Dolphins halves Shane Perry and Michael Roberts proved once again why they are two of the most dangerous halves in the competition between them they threw the last or second last pass to every try scored by the Dolphins. Despite being on the wrong end of an eight to two penalty count and some poor ball control late in the first half the Dolphins went into half time leading 28-0. In the second half the Dolphins tried to be a bit too fancy with the football and only completed 13 out of 23. Despite this they still scored 6 second half tries to run out winners 62-6. Best for the Dolphins were Danny Burke, Nathan Sologinkin, Michael Roberts, Shane Perry. Also strong in his first game back in first grade in a couple of years was Luke Bishop and in his first grade debut for Redcliffe Nick Walker. With Andrew Wynyard possibly out for the next few games Walker showed he is a more than capable replacement should Neil Wharton require him.

In A grade Redcliffe ran away with the game late in the second half winning 52-16. Joel Barnes was impressive scoring three tries and must be knocking on the door for a spot in first grade. Rod West also returning from injury was clever at five eighth and showed he is more than capable of taking the step up to Queensland Cup if required..
