Dragons run away from sloppy Eagles

The Saint George Illawarra Dragons have claimed a comfortable 32-10 win over an error-ridden Manly Sea Eagles in front of a crowd of 14,740 at Kogarah tonight.

After an arm-wrestle of a start, the Dragons opened the scoring in the 13th minute after Jamie Soward broke through a staggered defensive line and beat Roberston at fullback to score.

They increased their lead to 10-0 after Mark Gasnier was awarded a try that should never have been given. In twisting around to plant the ball, video replays showed the ball clearly lost contact with his hand and arm, but video referee Bill Harrigan saw fit to award a try through benefit of the doubt.

Manly were able to strike back just before half time. Michael Robertson caught a cross field bomb and threw a perfect offload to Tony Williams who picked the ball up off his bootlaces to beat some defenders to score for the 10-4 halftime score.

The Dragons pushed their lead up to 12 points just after halftime when Weyman was the beneficiary of a great Priddis offload.

The bad call ledger was evened up with Manly's second try after Kieran Foran scored off a clearly forward pass.

The Dragons 12 point lead was restored after Nathan Fien scored a fine try after throwing a dummy and stepping through the defensive line.

With Manly hot on attack, Anthony Watmough put in a kick with an overlap and after several rebounds it ended up with Beau Scott who ran over 80 metres to score against the run of play to effectively end the game as a contest.

With four minutes remaining, the Dragons signed off on an emphatic win as Soward put Morris over with a fantastic cut-out pass.
