Dragons to sign Woolford for two years

The St George Illawarra Dragons are set to sign Canberra Raiders hooker Simon Woolford to a two year deal.

According media reports, Dragons coach Nathan Brown approached Woolford's manager Steve Stone last month. A former Canberra captain, the 31-year-old was invited to look elsewhere by the Raiders. He was initially linked with English Super League club Hull but negotiations fell through when Hull re-signed former Kiwi hooker Richard Swain.

Woolford then began exploring his options in the NRL with at least one other Sydney club interested in discussing terms. The Dragons announcement is expected on Wednesday.

In other news, Dragons forward Michael Henderson is reportedly heading north to join team mate Luke Bailey at the Gold Coast Titans in 2007.
