Dykes requires ankle surgery

Cronulla five-eighth Adam Dykes will miss up to three months of rugby league with a ruptured ankle ligament. Dykes will require surgery later this week after he injured his ankle in the closing stages of the Sharks' NRL victory over St George Illawarra on Sunday and he won't be able to play for up to 12 weeks.

The news is a huge blow to the resurgent Sharks who had charged into the top eight on the back of three straight wins orchestrated by the veteran half. Dykes's injury is similar to that suffered by halfback Brett Kimmorley five weeks ago but Kimmorley is expected to return next week after resuming training yesterday.
