East to meet North in Grand Final

The Sydney Roosters have marched into the 2013 Grand Final as they powered through a heart strong Newcastle Knights pack, they claimed a 40-14 victory at Allianz Stadium in front of 37,752.

It will be a battle of the birds as the Roosters face the Sea Eagles next weekend in the Grand Final at ANZ Stadium.

Things kicked off with a hard fought contest which saw both sides opted for penalties goals which had the game locked at 2-all after 25 minutes.

The Roosters found their groove before the half time break as they crossed the white stripe, twice as Daniel Tupou and Michael Jennings displayed their speed and skill to extend the lead to 12-2 after 36 minutes. However the Jennings' try came on the back of a forward pass from Sonny Bill Williams, but luckily for Newcaslte it wasn't the deciding factor.

As the siren sounded for the break, Tyrone Roberts closed the gap to 8 points with a successful penalty goal. Roosters into the sheds ahead 12-4.

Aidan Guerra put in a Man of the Match performance for the Bondi club and he was rewarded with two tries for the tri-colours. His first came 7 minutes into the second half as he powered over the goal line off a blistering 70 metres run from Daniel Tupou. Roosters 18-4.

The Roosters continued their form as they went on to run over the Newcastle pack scoring three tries to jump ahead 34-4. They looked comfortable doing it as Michael Jennings grabbed his second, along with Mitchell Aubusson and Jake Friend added their names to try scorers sheet. Friend with a turn of pace saw his try come off a solo 65 metres charge.

Credit is due to the Knights who attempted to fight back into the contest, but their run ended with just Joey Leilua troubling the score board attendant with his two tries.

Man of the Match, Aidan Guerra sealed the Grand Final berth for the Roosters as he crossed for his second four-pointer thanks to Mitchell Pearce pass. The club affectionately known as 'East' will meet 'North' next week in the decider as the Roosters head to ANZ Stadium to face off with Manly-Warringah for the 2013 Provan-Summons trophy on Sunday, Ocotber 6th.
