Eels live to fight another day

The Parramatta Eels have come from behind to continue the rotten run of the Canterbury Bulldogs with a 26-12 win at ANZ Stadium in the second match of the Double Header.

The Eels began the match strongly and posted an early try to winger Taulima Tautai, but that only seemed to give them a false sense of security and they spent the remainder of the first half trying to give the Bulldogs as much possession as possible. Heka Nanai was eventually able to level the scores with a try out wide in the 24th minute before Tim Winitana ensured a halftime lead for the Dogs with a late try of his own. The 12-6 halftime lead for the Bulldogs could have been greater if Andrew Ryan had been awarded a try that was disallowed for the smallest of knock-ons by winger Matt Utai.

The second half began with more of the same before Brad Morrin was put on report for a high-ish shot on Jarryd Hayne that could see Morrin sitting out the last few weeks of the season. This seemed to cause the Bulldogs heads to drop, and the Eels quickly took the opportunity to build pressure before Luke Burt scored out wide and then added a penalty shortly afterwards to put Parramatta into the lead once more.
