Eels record priceless victory

The Parramatta Eels have recorded their fifth victory of the season with a 26-22 win over the 15th placed St. George Illawarra Dragons at Parramatta Stadium with 8,910 faithful fans in attendance.

The Dragons fired quickly and early jumping to a 12-0 lead after 15 minutes with tries to Mitch Rein and Tyson Frizell. The attack soon faded as the Eels charged through the Dragons pack.

Cult hero, Fuifui Moimoi lived out a fantasy as he claimed two tries for the Blue and Gold. It's his first double in 187 games for the Parramatta club. Moimoi scored his first in the 20th minute as he flew, yes flew, through the air to pluck the ball from the kick to crash down.

Parramatta locked the game up at 12-all at the hands of Semi Radradra who strolled in the western corner thanks to a draw and pass from Matt King.

Shortly before half time, Fuifui Moimoi celebrated his second four-pointer as he rolled through Dragons defence. After 40 minutes, the Eels led 16-12.

There was slight hope for the Red V fans as Daniel Vidot dived over on the blind side as quick hands saw the Dragons post their 3rd try. They locked the contest at 16-all after 43 minutes.

Both teams had only pride to play for and the home side turned up for their faithful fans as they secured victory with two further tries to Semi Radradra and Ken Sio. The lost of Jarryd Hayne didn't affect the Eels as Luke Kelly and Joseph Paulo took control and led the side around the park.

Next week the Eels travel up the M1 to battle the Newcastle Knights at Hunter Stadium. Meanwhile the Dragons return home to WIN Stadium in Wollongong to host the New Zealand Warriors who are still fighting for the the NRL top 8.

Pressure is on St. George Illawarra coach, Steve Price as his side failed to deliver the good with a lack of passion shown in the performance. Members and fans will be calling for answers from the merged club as they prepare for the 2014 season.
