Eels Slipping
at the Top

Bolstered by the inclusion of NRL stars, Mark Riddell and Tim Smith, Parramatta were at short odds of continuing their domination of the NSW Premier League against the Cougars on Friday night. However, the Cougars had other ideas and were desperate to impress in front of their home crowd.

Led by strong performances from Craig Trindall and Liam Georgetown, the Cougars were well placed at half time, leading 18-0.

In the second half the top of the table Eels managed to outscore the Cougars 18-7, but the Cougars held on for a well deserved 25-18 win, bagging two valuable competition points in the process.

The loss was the second of the season for Parramatta. The Eels now sit just two points ahead of the Cougars on the Premier League ladder, with the Jets and Dragons a further point behind on 15.
