Hull FC dominated the first half and led by the astute kicking of Adam Dykes they led 18-4 at the break thanks to tries from Willie Manu, Graeme Horne and Danny Tickle. Keith Senior scored for Leeds just before the interval. The second half was a complete reversal of the first as the Rhinos stepped up a gear to produce a stirring comeback. Rob Burrow and Gareth Ellis both scored a double. Scott Donald also got two and scored one of the best tries ever seen at Headingley when he beat about six men in a mazy 80 meter run. Kevin Sinfield kicked 5 goals to take him to second in Leeds' all-time leading points scorer list with 1,885 as the Rhinos remained six points clear of the field.
