Warrington ready to attack

Fast-improving Warrington have their eyes on a first league double over Bradford for 25 years.

The Wolves are on the crest of a wave after winning five of their last six matches to climb five places to fifth in the engage Super League.

Since suffering a humiliating 42-10 defeat at Salford on Good Friday, Warrington have beaten leading sides Hull, Bradford and Wigan while their only defeat came in agonising fashion at St Helens.

?We?ve had a good six weeks,? admitted coach Paul Cullen. ?Mondays have been good after matches - the players have been bright, happy and cheerful, and it?s good to be around the place.

?But we fully understand how quickly that can change. All we?ve got to do is remember the Salford game, and the wounds are still very raw.?

Bradford, too, appear to have turned their season around, having won all four League games since going down 35-32 at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

The Bulls trailed 29-4 early in the second half of that game and gave themselves too much to do.

?We let them get off to a flyer and we know we can?t afford to do that again,? said coach Brian Noble. ?That day was symptomatic of how we have been playing and it cost us dearly.?

Warrington have a trio of ex-Bradford players in their line-up in Logan Swann, Toa Kohe-Love and Chris Bridge but Noble picks out experienced half-backs Lee Briers and Nathan Wood as the main danger men.

And the Great Britain coach is also acutely aware of the threat posed by former St Helens centre Martin Gleeson, who justified his selection for the Tri-Nation Series last autumn with a series of outstanding performances.

?They have steadily been improving their squad for the last couple of years but it is two of their longer-serving players who make them tick,? said Noble.

?Briers and Wood in the halves will kill you if you let them dictate and we can?t afford to give them the space to get Gleeson in the clear.

?He is a world-class player and it was his two tries that broke us in the end at Warrington.?

McNally fires warning to players

Wakefield Trinity Wildcats take on Hull FC at Belle Vue looking to avenge their Challenge Cup fourth-round exit seven weeks ago.

After winning just one of their last five matches, Wakefield coach Shane McNally has warned his players they are on borrowed time.

?We have got a few players who have got to improve and rapidly,? he said. ?They are fully aware of who they are and what needs to be done.

?They have got an opportunity to put things right against Hull, otherwise we will get other blokes in who will do the job.?

Hull are aiming to complete the league double over the Wildcats, who are the only team to have beaten Leeds so far this year, and coach John Kear admits they are the Jekyll and Hyde of engage Super League.

?It is difficult to know what side will turn up for Wakefield,? he said. ?We have seen both sides of the coin this season with them and we will be preparing as though they will play as they did against Leeds when they beat them.?
