ESL - Week 11 review

Results through from Week 11 of Tetley's Super League.

The Tigers' appointment of Gary Mercer and Ellery Hanley this week had looked set to earn them a first win of the 2004 season when they led 26-14 in the second half.

But tries to Paul Highton Gareth Haggerty, Anthony Stewart and Andy Johnson gave Salford the victory.

Bradford Bulls kept up their challenge at the head of the Super League with a 30-20 win at Widnes Vikings.

Leon Pryce and Paul Johnson gave the Bulls an early lead before Simon Finnigan hit back, but a second for Pryce and Shontayne Hape's effort put the visitors in the driving seat in the second period.

Deon Bird and Troy Wozniak responded for the Vikings, but Aaron Smith's try and two goals from Paul Deacon - taking his tally to five for the afternoon - sealed the win.

Huddersfield join Hull on 14 points following their 30-6 win at London Broncos.

Sean Penkywicz and Stuart Jones helped the Giants into a 12-2 lead, but Mark O'Halloran's score, on his return from injury, pulled London back into the game at half time.

However, Huddersfield ran in four second half scores, to Hefin O'Hare, Stuart Donlan, Marcus St Hilaire and Paul Reilly, to secure two more points.

Wigan remain hot on the Giants' heels, after winning 20-14 at Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.

While David March's penalty gave the home side an early lead, Sean O'Loughlin's try and two Andy Farrell goals gave Wigan an 8-2 cushion.

Kevin Brown edged them further ahead before half time, and Kris Radlinski's 50th minute effort edged them clear.

Tries to Justin Ryder and Sid Domic cut the gap to four points at 18-14, Paul Handforth crucially unable to convert either before Farrell's late penalty ensured the victory.
