signings

Former Test captain Brad Fittler has indicated 2004 could be his swansong after re-signing with the Sydney Roosters for another year.

Fittler, 31, says he wants to stay with the defending premiers despite being forced to take a substantial pay cut, but admits he gave serious thought to shipping over to England with his pregnant fiancee.

The Roosters have also re-signed New Zealand international forward Jason Cayless to a two-year contract.

In other news, Newcastle prop Josh Perry has agreed to terms for the next two years, Souths have signed journeyman Scott Pethybridge for 2004 and North Queensland re-signed promising hooker Leigh McWilliams for the next three years.
