NSW centre Mark Gasnier will play in Wednesday night's opening State of Origin match after passing a fitness test on his injured hip this afternoon.
Gasnier was put through a fitness test by the NSW medical staff, who were satisfied that the St George Illawarra three-quarter would be right to take his place against Queensland at Telstra Stadium next week.
Penrith winger Luke Lewis, who was on standby for the Test centre, will now be released from the NSW camp and is expected to be free to play in tomorrow night's NRL clash against Parramatta at CUA Stadium.
