Geyer ruled out with leg gash

Melbourne Storm winger Matt Geyer has been ruled out of tomorrow night?s match against the South Sydney Rabbitohs due to a nasty gash on his left shin, suffered during last week?s six-point win over the Wests Tigers.

After sustaining a slight infection to the wound earlier this week, Geyer spent two nights in hospital and despite returning home yesterday, will not be risked for the match between the fifth-placed Storm and the last-placed Rabbitohs.

Melbourne coach Craig Bellamy has yet to name Geyer?s replacement but Melbourne-born Jake Webster is favoured to fill the vacant wing position.

Webster had a day out when the Storm met Souths in Round 6 earlier this year, picking up a hat-trick while covering for Geyer who was sidelined with a knee injury.

With the Storm enjoying the bye next week, the former NSW State of Origin winger will have to wait until the Round 16 clash with the Warriors to play his 150th first-grade match and to equal Marcus Bai?s club record of 144 games for Melbourne.
