Giants lose one but then gain one

At Wednesday's disciplinary hearing at Red Hall, Sean Penkywicz was found guilty of providing a sample containing a banned substance. He was banned from the game for 2 years. Having considered this finding, the decision was made that his conduct was sufficiently serious as to warrant his immediate dismissal. Accordingly Huddersfield Giants have terminated his playing contract with immediate effect.

Also, the Giants have announced the signing, until 30th November 2005, of 22-year-old England A International Ryan Clayton.

The 1.84m 92kg centre/second row has made over 70 Super League appearances with Halifax and Castleford but for the past 6 months has been playing in France for the Villefranche club.

Giants Head Coach Jon Sharp said:

"I am delighted to be able to add Ryan to our Super League squad. He has the potential to be a top class Super League player. I have been very impressed by his attitude and I look forward to working with him over the next few months."

Giants New Signing Ryan Clayton said:

"I am really pleased to be back in Super League with Huddersfield Giants. I know the club is very ambitious and I will be working hard to establish myself in the squad."
