Grand Final All But A Sellout

Practically overshadowed by the clamour for prime Rugby World Cup seats, the National Rugby League (NRL) yesterday warned time was running out to secure tickets for its grand final.

There are only 5000 seats remaining for the code's finale here at the 80,000-capacity Telstra Stadium on October 5, five days before the rugby's global showcase kicks off.

NRL chief executive David Gallop said sales had been stronger than last year, driven by the anticipation of one of the most open finals series in many seasons.

"We're on the verge of a really exciting series and while the top eight is close to being decided, there's still plenty of speculation about who will actually win the premiership," Gallop said.

A limited number of seats will be released on September 29 for supporters of the teams involved in the grand final.
