Hill awaits outcome on shoulder

Melbourne Storm five-eighth Scott Hill will know on Wednesday whether or not his season is over after aggravating a shoulder injury in last week?s loss to the Cowboys in Townsville.

Halfback Andrew McFadden?s short-term outlook also hangs in the balance after he re-injured his groin in Saturday night?s match. The degree of his injury won?t be known until he receives MRI results late this afternoon.

Hill will undergo arthroscopic surgery on Wednesday when the extent of the rotator cuff injury will be determined, yet the 25-year-old Test lock is confident he won?t require a shoulder reconstruction.

?Hopefully it (injured shoulder) only requires an arthroscope and I?ll miss a month or so but we really won?t know until the doctor has a close look,? Hill said.

?If I do need a reconstruction then so be it but I?ll be doing everything in my power to make sure I can get back out on the field sooner rather than later.?

The Melbourne playmaker has been plagued by injury in recent months and this setback is the latest since missing four of the seven rounds so far this season.

Hill endured an interrupted build-up to this year?s Telstra Premiership following two knee arthroscopies during the off-season. Just when Melbourne looked like making some headway with a long list of injuries last week?s match has seen the number of players sidelined increase to ten.
