Hoppa gone for season

Manly's hopes of a finals berth have taken a battering with confirmation powerhouse winger John Hopoate will miss the rest of the National Rugby League season because of a broken ankle.

The 29-year-old suffered the injury during yesterday's 27-16 loss to Parramatta and will undergo an operation on Thursday.

In further bad news, young Sea Eagles fullback Brett Stewart requires a shoulder reconstruction and has also been ruled out for the season.
