Idris to debut in Gold Coast trial match

Prized recruit Jamal Idris will make his anticipated debut in Jetstar Gold Coast Titans colours after being named to play in Saturday night's pre-season trial match on the Gold Coast against the Brisbane Broncos.

Jetstar Titans Coach John Cartwright today named Indigenous All Stars representative Idris in a near full-strength 23-man squad to take on the Broncos at Pizzey Park, Miami in what marks the club's first pre-season trial match to be held on the Gold Coast since 2008.

Also playing his first match for the club will be former South Sydney and Melbourne Storm centre Beau Champion, who did not travel to New Zealand last weekend for the club's first pre-season trial match against 2011 grand finalists the Warriors.

The strong squad includes fellow All Stars representatives Scott Prince, Luke Bailey and Greg Bird along with five-eighth William Zillman and back rower Mark Minichiello, who also missed the Warriors trial match.

Idris, who today participated in the filming of a television commercial at the Centre of Excellence for new front of jersey sponsor iSelect, said he was eager to play with his new teammates for the first time.

"I can't wait to run out in a blue jersey and hopefully we can form some connections in this game coming up,'' said Idris.
