Jones ruled out of Trans-Tasman

Influential playmaker Stacey Jones has been ruled out of the rugby league Test against Australia in Auckland on October 18.

Kiwis doctor Chris Hanna said today halfback Jones had suffered a groin strain when Australia beat the Kiwis in Sydney in July and clearly struggled as the New Zealand Warriors reached the National Rugby League playoffs before being eliminated by Penrith in a preliminary final in Sydney two days ago.

Australian-based Kiwis Richard Swain, Stephen Kearney and Paul Rauhihi have also confirmed they will be unavailable for the Test because of injury.

The Kiwis squad are due to be named on Monday.
