Bulldogs winger Matt Utai has been suspended for two matches for fighting during his side's fiery 32-24 NRL win over the Sharks on Sunday at Telstra Stadium.

Utai was the third player in a 58th minute altercation between team mate Sonny Bill Williams and Sharks centre Phil Bailey, earning a grade one contrary conduct charge. Despite entering an early guilty plea, the New Zealand winger will be sidelined for two matches due to his 96 carry-over points from previous charges.

And Sharks centre Beau Scott has escaped suspension after pleading guilty to a grade one dangerous throw charge from the same match.

Meanwhile Cronulla hooker Tevita Latu is facing the sack from the NRL club after admitting he assaulted a teenaged woman. Latu has been charged with assault after allegedly breaking the 19-year-old's nose on Sunday morning.

Cronulla chief executive Greg Pierce says Latu told him he punched the woman, named by News Ltd newspapers as Brooke Peninton. Peninton says Latu punched her in the face outside a service station in Cronulla.

He has been suspended by the club while it conducts its own inquiry. Latu has been granted police bail and will face Sutherland Local Court on June 15.
