Kiwis still in the Hunt

In a bold move, the New Zealand Rugby League has written a letter to Brisbane coach Wayne Bennett seeking an audience with rising star Karmichael Hunt regarding his international future.

Earlier in the year, Hunt turned down an approach from New Zealand to play in the Anzac Day Test, citing a desire to play State of Origin football for Queensland.

With the upcoming Tri-Nations Test series at the end of the year, the Kiwis are looking to bolster their squad and haven't given up hope of enticing the 17-year-old to play for his country of birth. In a respectful gesture, New Zealand have sought Hunt's parents to be included in the talks.
