Kurt Gidley wins Knights 2011 Player Of The Year

Kurt Gidley was tonight named the Newcastle Knights NRL 2011 Player of the Year.

This caps off a stellar year for the Knights captain; playing 18 Club games, NSW State of Origin, NRL All Stars and just this week, he was named in the Kangaroos train-on squad.

Gidley was awarded this prestigious award at the Club's annual Presentation Night held at Wests, New Lambton on Tuesday evening.

In second place for the Knights Player of the Year award was Chris Houston and Wes Naiqama was third.

Peter Mata'utia and Sam Anderson won the NSW Cup and NYC Player of the Year awards respectively.

Once a Knight Old Boys Gladiator Award - Joel Edwards

During the evening, there was a special farewell tribute for Adam MacDougall and also a presentation to coach Rick Stone. Players that made their NRL debut for the Knights this season were also acknowledged; Neville Costigan, Beau Henry, Tyrone Roberts, Steve Southern, Marvin Filipo, Peter Mata'utia, Ryan Stig, Zane Tetevano and Siuatonga Likiliki.
