Leeds Rhinos 46 v 6 Wakefield Trinity Wildcats

Super League Champions Leeds Rhinos ran out convincing winners in the Tetley?s Festive Challenge.

Fans favourite Barrie McDermott started his testimonial year in style, scoring a try in each half as Leeds took apart the Wildcats.

Tony Smith?s side had Wakefield beaten by half time after scoring four unanswered tries in the first forty minutes to lead 20-0 at the break.

Skipper Kevin Sinfield produced the first two, with his breaks creating the space for McDermott and then Jamie Jones Buchanan to crash over.

Rob Burrow?s pass then sent Mark Calderwood searing away, before Nick Scruton rounded off an impressive first half with a lung-busting effort from just inside the Wildcats? half.

With the absence of Matt Diskin, Rhinos? fans will have been encouraged by Andrew Dunemann?s performance at hooker.

And exciting winger Lee Smith looks like he could be the next Rhinos youngster to emerge as a Super League force.

Jamie Rooney got a late consolation, but not before Carl Ablett, Chris McKenna, McDermott, Smith and Dunemann all touched down in the second half as the Rhinos completed their nine try rout of the Wildcats.
