Lion Foundation National Junior
Competition Final Round

This weekend sees the final round of the Lion Foundation National Junior Competition.

The Auckland Crowns, in both grades, head into their last games, before the semi-finals, two points clear at the top of their respective tables. Given they are playing the under performing Waicoa Bay Stallions, I would reasonably expect both Crowns sides to play home semi-finals against the teams placed fourth.

The tussle amongst the teams currently placed 2nd, 3rd and 4th in the 18's Kiwi Cup should provide the most interest this weekend. Canterbury, Wellington and the Auckland Sea lions currently hold those respective spots and with Canterbury (two points clear), playing Wellington in the windy city, and the Sea Lions playing the often thrashed First National Northland side anything could happen. It's hard to see Wellington dropping out of 2nd spot due to their points differential, so I would imagine a home semi for them against either the Auckland or Canterbury side.

The 16's Foundation Cup table is unlikely to change, with the Auckland Sea lions looking assured of a home semi against either Wellington or First National Northland.
