Lockyer
injured in mishap

Queensland Maroons State of Origin captain Darren Lockyer has received two stitches above his right eye following an accident at the team's Sunshine Coast camp.

Lockyer trained with the side on Tuesday but was sporting a noticeable cut over the bruised and swollen eye.

Queensland media manager Ben Ikin told the ABC that Lockyer slipped on some wet tiles during a Monday night team function.

"The skipper had made his way from the function room to the toilets, through the rain and slipped on the tiles, banged his head and he's got a couple of stitches in the right eye," Ikin said.

"From my understanding the doc whipped him off, put a couple of stitches in the cut and he returned to life as normal."

The players had been socialising with past State of Origin champions over dinner with coach Mal Meninga keen to expose his seven rookies to some Queenslander history.
