Maltese Rugby League on air

Maltese Rugby League will receive more warranted publicity when the well-accepted Waltzing Matilda program appears nationwide in Malta on TVMalta on the Friday 23rd September edition.

Respected journalist Josephine Zammit Cordina conducted an interview with MRLA spokesperson Anthony Micallef discussing the Maltese Rugby League Association, their operations, goals and ambitions and also their upcoming fixture of rugby league, the first ever; for the island of Malta to take place on October 22 at Marsa Stadium.

The special feature will also offer entertaining highlights of the Malta Knights in action during their matches against the British Defence Forces and Fiji A.

The segment will appear at the following times.

Awarded both the MQR by the Government of Malta in 1995 and also the Australia Medal in the general division of the Order of Australia, Zammit Cordina a former actress filmed the segment along with her husband Harry and son Henry on a recent working visit to Australia. And the Waltzing Matilda team isn?t the first crew to set across to the other side of the world from Malta to follow the interest of the MRLA.

Only two months ago, popular rating Maltese program Xarabank and the team visited Australia and interviewed the MRLA Board.

The footage appeared weeks later, with a rousing response.

AMTV?s Charlie Curmi also recently conveyed his film crew towards the MRLA and their setup when amongst others, interviewed Parramatta Eels players Michael Vella and Simon Micallef, Athlete and MRLA Ambassador Candice Falzon, the MRLA?s Anthony Micallef and also Malta Knights rugby league mascot Clayton Darmanin; the Maltese Knight.

The footage was filmed for AMTV?s G?day Maltaussies program.

Meanwhile, Australian-Maltese boxer Adam Vella tonight confirmed he would be wearing a Maltese rugby league jersey when he enters the ring to challenge for the Australian Middleweight title at Penrith Panthers Leagues Club on September 30.

Vella, who boasts a record of 11-0 will take on Vietnamese born Paul Le in the main event that will complete the fight card televised on cable television.
