Three quick tries in six minutes to start the second half won the game for Manly as they became the first Australian team in six years to win the World Club Challenge, defeating the Leeds Rhinos 28 points to 20.
Though the scoreline reads only eight points difference, and Leeds finished the stronger of the two, make no mistake this match was over after 47 minutes.
Coming out of the break leading 12 points to 4, Manly exploded out of the blocks with three quick-fire tries, with Brett Stewart and Anthony Watmough both collecting their second before Steve Matai finished off a length of the field effort to blow the difference out to 22.
Leeds managed to reel back in the scoreline through tries to Keith Senior and Ryan Hall, however a penalty goal from Orford with five to go killed off any chance of a comeback.
It was a heated affair, with both teams earning the ire of referee Jason Robinson, who blew 28 penalties in the encounter, and sent both Josh Perry and Jamie Peacock to the sin-bin after an all-in brawl midway through the first half.
Following the brawl, Manly finally broke through to open the scoring for the match, with Brett Stewart darting from dummyhalf close to the line.
Watmough extended the lead when he ran onto a short ball from Orford and raced off for his first of the match.
Leeds finally got on the board just before halftime through a very contentious try to Jamie Jones-Buchanan, the lead-up to which seemed to include a Manly player tackled without the ball, and a knock-on in-goal by Danny McGuire.

37 min: VIDEO REF - Possible Leeds Try...
37 min: TRY Leeds Rhinos A very contentious try here for Leeds. Danny McGuire chased through a very poor Sinfieild mid-field bomb, and looked to push Glenn Stewart off the ball in recovering it. He was then tackled and rolled onto his back in-goal by Orford without placing the ball down, and in trying to force the ball looked to lose it forward at which point Jones-Buchanan placed a hand on it. English video ref Ganson saw differently, however, and has awarded the try. Conversion attempt by Kevin Sinfield unsuccessful. Manly Sea Eagles 12-4

Leeds failed to clean the ball up, and Stewart was johnny on the spot to clean up and race off for the try. Conversion attempt by Matt Orford unsuccessful. Manly Sea Eagles 16-4
44 min: TRY Manly Sea Eagles Back-to-back tries for Manly and you'd think it'd just about be over for Leeds. Quick hands along the line deep in their own half found Robertson once again in space. He raced about 30 metres before kicking back in-field for Brett Stewart who looked away for the hat-trick for all money before being caught from behind 5 out. From the quick play-the-ball Watmough simply had to dive through the weak defence for the points. Conversion attempt by Matt Orford successful. Manly Sea Eagles 22-4
47 min: VIDEO REF - Possible Manly Try...
47 min: TRY Manly Sea Eagles Now it's definitely over for Leeds as Manly have once again gone the length of the field to score.
