The Central Queensland Comets kept their hopes of featuring in this years Wizard Cup finals alive with a hard fought win over the 2007 premiers the Tweed Heads Seagulls on Saturday night. The Comets went on to post their second win of the year over the once competition frontrunners in front of a vocal Cudgen crowd to put the final nail in the coffin for the seagulls in 2008. Pitted as a must win for both sides the boys from CQ went into the match bolstered by the inclusion of Blackwater born 2008 Origin representative PJ Marsh, who was determined to stake a claim for re inclusion to the Broncos line up with a strong performance.
