One of Queensland?s most faithful wing servants has confirmed his retirement from State of Origin, with Matt Sing opting to focus on club commitments.
Boasting 21 games for the Maroons, Sing was the most experienced player in the Queensland team this season, having made his representative debut in 1995.
Renowned for his never-say-die attitude in defence, the 29-year-old also scored five tries during his interstate career, including a hat-trick in Game III of the 2003 series.
Born in outback Winton and raised in the mining town of Dysart, Sing is a testament to the rewards of hard work and perseverance.
Through a 12-year NRL career, he has featured with the Penrith Panthers, Sydney Roosters and North Queensland Cowboys, while playing 11 Tests for Australia.
Sing has two years remaining on his contract with the Cowboys.
Together with wife Bree, Sing also has two young children, Kalani and Meiki, with the latter born on his most recent tour with the Kangaroos.
