McRae accepts Souths role

Dumped South Sydney coach Shaun McRae has accepted an offer to become the club's director of coaching and football operations for the next two seasons.

McRae has been considering the matter for more than two weeks after being told he would be replaced next year by Jason Taylor who was originally hired to be assistant coach. Taylor was given the top job after guiding the Eels to the play-offs as caretaker coach this year.

McRae will be involved in recruitment and retention of players, as well as working closely with members of the coaching staff. He says he'll have no problem working with Taylor.
