Millward's appeal turned down

Ian Millward has lost an internal appeal against his dismissal by Super League giants St Helens for gross misconduct. The 44-year-old Australian was sacked by the club on Tuesday, and under the terms of his dismissal, will not receive any compensation.

It is expected he will now pursue further legal action.

St Helens chairman Eamonn McManus said the appeal was dismissed when Millward failed to raise any new or additional matters to change the ruling.

Millward was sacked for gross misconduct arising from three separate incidents this season.
