Monaghan signs 4-year deal with Warrington

Manly star Michael Monaghan has signed a four-year deal with English Super League club Warrington from 2008.

The Sea Eagles playmaker had been granted an early release from his contract at the NRL club, with Warrington this morning confirming on their website they had won the hotly contested battle for Monaghan's signature.

The 27-year-old is desperate to play halfback, but is currently behind Matt Orford in the pecking order for the number seven jersey at the Sea Eagles. Three Super League clubs, including Hull, as well as the Wests Tigers, put in formal bids for Monaghan. At least three other NRL clubs expressed interest in Monaghan.
