Mortimer Regrets Reasons behind
Resignation

Premiership winning winger Peter Mortimer today revealed he resigned from the club's board because he felt he had been frozen out in recent weeks.

Mortimer said he felt the club's failure to consult him over a number of issues had convinced him his time would be better spent concentrating on his wine business in the NSW country city of Orange.

"There's no point in making these trips if I am not consulted," he said.

Mortimer, who travelled more than three hours each way to attend board meetings, also said his brother Steve's decision to part ways with the Bulldogs had also contributed a part in standing down 10 days ago.

Steve Mortimer resigned as chief executive on March 22 after losing the support of the board.

"It would be stupid not to acknowledge that, but it wasn't as a total result of that," his brother said.

Mortimer, who hosted the Bulldogs first grade squad in Orange last week, said he would remain a supporter of the club.

"I have departed on good terms," he said.

"I have five sons and they all love their football. I am not going to cut off my history because of a couple of weeks."

"I have made it known to the people and I will move on."

The club has already appointed former judiciary commissioner Jim Hall to replace Mortimer.
