The Newcastle Knights will make an announcement later this afternoon on the immediate playing future of captain Andrew Johns. The Knights have called a press conference for 4pm this afternoon.
It's understood Johns, who has been troubled by neck and groin injuries, could miss the remainder of the season. Johns has been in Sydney this week for tests.
His loss would be a savage blow to the club's premiership hopes, with the Knights clinging to eighth spot on the ladder with four rounds remaining.
Without their star halfback and captain Newcastle lacks leadership and direction on the field and tends to collapse without a fight. The recent thumping at the hands of the Wests Tigers is a prime example of this, when the No.7 was rested. It would almost certainly rule the Knights out of premiership contention and may even result in them missing out on the semi-finals.Like
