The National Rugby League judiciary chairman Justice Greg Woods has dismissed Newcastle's bid to appeal a one-match suspension given to prop Josh Perry.
Perry was charged with contrary conduct for raking the face of Wests Tigers centre Terry Hill during the Knights' 34-6 win over the Tigers at EnergyAustralia Stadium last Saturday. Perry will now miss Newcastle's trip to Melbourne on Saturday to play the Storm.
Justice Woods rejected the claim of Perry's legal counsel Alan Sullivan QC who claimed Perry was convicted of the wrong charge. The judge said he have a direction to the three-man judiciary panel at the original hearing that asked them to consider only a contrary conduct charge.
