Former Melbourne backrower Clint Newton has escaped suspension despite being found guilty of a "chicken wing" tackle while playing for Hull KR in the UK Super League.
Newton became the first player in the UK competition to be charged with the controversial manoeuvre after he was cited for making a dangerous tackle on Bradford Bulls prop Andy Lynch.
He was found guilty of "behaviour contrary to the true spirit of the game" by the Rugby Football League's disciplinary panel on Tuesday, but avoided a ban.
Instead, the 26-year-old was fined STG300 ($A640), and will be clear to play in Sunday's Challenge Cup fourth-round tie at Workington.
Earlier this month, Storm forward Adam Blair became the first player in the NRL to be charged with a "chicken wing" tackle. He also avoided a ban after taking the early plea.
