NZRL to impose further penalties on
3 young offenders

The New Zealand Rugby League will impose further penalties on three junior players serving prison terms for assaulting a pregnant 16-year-old girl.

Two of the 18-year-olds received 18 month terms in prison, the other 15 months over the assault.

The baby, fathered by one of the offenders, survived the attack without any long-term damage.

NZRL General Manager, Peter Cordtz says once they are released from prison the 3 will face a charge of bringing the game into disrepute.

Although he says this charge will not necessarily mean permanent suspension from the game.

However Mr Cordtz says it is important for all to see that the actions of the three players will not be tolerated by the administrators of the game.
