O'Loughlin named Wigan Captain

Wigan head coach Ian Millward has named Sean O?Loughlin as captain for the 2006 engage Super League season.

The Warriors captaincy changed hands regularly last season following Andy Farrell?s departure and injury to Kris Radlinski but after suffering knee problems last term, O?Loughlin has been handed the armband after recovering from surgery.

Millward said: ?Sean is a Wigan boy and has all the qualities required to lead the team, he is a big part of my plans for the future and is highly regarded by everyone at the club. He will be a great role model for this club long term.?

Great Britain international O?Loughlin said: ?This is a huge honour for me. There are a lot of experienced players in our squad and to be asked to captain the side really means a lot.

?There have been many great captains of this club and hopefully I can go some way to filling those boots. If I have a career as good as some of those from the past I will be more than happy.?
