Off the Wall

Within the hour the Brisbane Broncos will confirm the signing of Greg Inglis for the 2011 season.

Earlier today Inglis and Brett White were released by the Melbourne Storm, with White apparently going to the Canberra Raiders.

The Inglis signing is a huge achievement for the Broncos. He is a leading Maroons team member and will help strengthen the Broncos as will the return of Ben Hannant next year.

The negotiations over Inglis have been protracted because he could not be signed by the Broncos, or anyone else, without being released by the Storm.

A higher offer from the Broncos yesterday put the Titans out of the race...and made it hard for the Storm to hang on to him.

The other factor was the re-location of his long time partner to Brisbane with her work.

The Broncos now have a ready replacement for the injury prone Justin Hodges whose long term career must be under a cloud.

This is a real coup for Brisbane and the retiring CEO, Bruno Cullen.
