Origin selections due today

New South Wales and Queensland rugby league selectors name their line-ups today for the State of Origin decider in Melbourne on Wednesday week.

For the Blues, most interest is in the halves with Craig Gower, Brett Kimmorley, Matt Orford and Mathew Head all in with a shot of wearing the No.7 jersey. Braith Anasta, Scott Hill and Mark Gasnier are all possibilities at five-eighth while, in the forwards, Luke O'Donnell and Paul Gallen could also be in the selectors' minds.

Queensland needs a new fullback and will check on the fitness of Greg Inglis but others in the frame are Clinton Schifcofske, Rhys Wesser and Matt Bowen.

Broncos forward Tonie Carroll is also expected to be called into the Maroons side, despite being heavily concussed in the match against Manly yesterday.
