Overnight wrap

The New South Wales State of Origin squad will fly to Brisbane this morning ahead of Wednesday night's series opener against Queensland at Suncorp Stadium.

The Blues will spend the day settling into enemy territory before resuming training tomorrow. Melbourne Storm's Ryan Hoffman joined the squad last night as a precautionary 18th man, the same position he filled in Australia's Test squad against New Zealand last month.

The Blues' injury concerns appear to be over though, with fullback Anthony Minichiello and back-rower Nathan Hindmarsh both in full training after back injuries.

Up north, and Queensland will rush Melbourne's Antonio Kaufusi into Origin camp tomorrow morning because of a question mark over the fitness of forward enforcer Carl Webb.

Webb will have scans on what team doctor Roy Saunders described as a slightly torn hamstring, sustained during the team's training run on the Gold Coast yesterday. Webb, whose aggression would be sorely missed against a Test-strength NSW pack, has had persistent hamstring problems throughout his career.
