Penrith name 7's squad, hold back stars

Following on from Canterbury's decision to rest it's star players, Penrith has followed suit by ruling out all of its NRL premiership-winning players.

Penrith chief executive Shane Richardson says the club is holding those players back to concentrate on winning the World Club Challenge against English Super League premiers Bradford in Engalnd on February 14.

He says the Panthers are treating that match like a grand final and want to reverse the recent poor record of Australian teams in the annual clash of competition champions. The Panthers will field a squad comprising many young, up-and-coming players in the world sevens.

The squad is:

Amos Roberts, Brett Howland, Frank Puletua, Shaun Ata, Aaron Barba, Daniel Russell, David McLean (c), Matthew Pow, Richard Fa'aoso, Frank Pritchard, Ben Rogers (emergency).
