MATCH REPORT PREMIER LEAGUE ?V- BALMAIN TIGERS. ROUND 15 ? 17 JUNE 2005.

The Magpies were looking to turn things around against fellow foundation club members, the Balmain Tigers. As with the Jersey Flegg, the Tigers showed more commitment and dominated play in the first half, taking an 18 ? 0 lead into the half time break. Whilst the Magpies pushed forward when in possession, errors cost them several opportunities.

The Magpies lifted their game in the second half and in the 4th minute Ray Cashmere scored after a barging run. The Magpies positive play continued and in the 18th minute Aaron Mercer scored and with the extras added by Ben Roberts, the Magpies looked to be back in the game.

Following an incident in the early part of the second half, two Tigers players were sent from the field. One Magpie player was also sent off with a further player sin binned.

The Tigers re grouped and scored three further tries taking them out to a 34 ? 10 lead. The Magpies had one last opportunity and in the 38th minute, replacement Adam Fletcher scored a fine try which was converted by Ben Roberts.

The full time score saw the Tigers run out winners, 34 ? 16.

Best for the Magpies ? Ray Cashmere, Shannon McDonnell and Isaac De Gois.
