Player movements: Elford, Emelio

English Super league club Huddersfield has signed Shane Elford from Wests Tigers on a three-year deal. The 28-year-old, who can play as a centre, wing or five-eighth, will be part of the Giants' squad from the start of next season along with Tigers clubmate and prop John Skandalis.

Elford says it will be a big jump to Super League from playing in Australia, but it is something he always planned to do. He added Skandalis signing for the Giants was a big factor in him joining the club while he already knew Brad Drew from their time together at Penrith.

Meanwhile, the Bulldogs have re-signed Andrew Emelio for another two years, keeping the centre at the club until the end of the 2008 season. Emelio, 24, played his 100th club game for the Bulldogs last week and is happy to have secured another two seasons with the club he followed as a child.

Emelio has won three Jersey Flegg premierships (1999, 2000, 2001) and one Premier League premiership (2002) with the Bulldogs. In 2003 and 2004 he played for the Sharks before having a stint in the UK in 2005 with the Widnes Vikings.
